Altaway maintains multiple POPs (Point of Presence) in state-of-the-art facilities. They are strategically located in premier carrier-neutral telecom buildings and in close proximity to the major Internet Exchange Points to minimize traffic hops and optimize performance.
Current locations: New York City, San Francisco, CA and Tokyo, Japan.
All POPs are staffed and operational 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Network
Altaway POPs connect to each other and to the Internet through InterNAP P-NAPs (Private Network Access Points). InterNAP provides Altaway with intelligent route-control technology and redundant, high-speed bandwidth connections to all major Internet backbones, including AT&T, MCI, Global Crossing, Level3, Sprint, Savvis, NTT, AsiaNetcom, KDDI, JapanTelecom.

Altaway monitors and continuously upgrades its network to deliver the capacity, redundancy and scalability you need for optimum web site performance.

Security and reliability
Altaway's POPs feature high standards for security and reliability:

  • Redundant connectivity
    Altaway has installed fiber optic cables from multiple providers, allowing redundant fiber connections out to the Internet. In this way, Altaway virtually eliminates any single point of failure.
  • Power Management System
    Fully redundant premise power, Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) systems and Diesel generators
  • Fire suppression
    State-of-the-art gas-based fire suppression system to protect critical equipment from the threat of fire.
  • Security
    Video-surveillance cameras, biometric sensors, security alarms and on-site 24-hour security personnel located behind bullet-proof glass.
  • Temperature control
